At Orchard Head, we believe that for children to get the most from their education it’s vital they attend regularly. They should be at school, on time, every day the school is open; unless a reason for absence is unavoidable. It’s very important that parents ensure this happens.

Children should be in the playground by 8.50am ready to line up at 8.55am for the start of the school day. Children who arrive late need to enter through the main Reception area and be signed in.

Arriving 10 minutes
late every day

Means they miss 32 hours
of lesson time each year

Which is equivalent to 6
whole school days lost

Our Attendance Policy aims to improve attendance and punctuality, and sets out how we’ll achieve this together.

Holidays in term time

Our head teacher is not able to authorise holidays in term except in special circumstances. If you wish to take your child out of school during term time then you’ll need to submit an Absence Request form. Please be aware that the Education Welfare Department may impose a fixed penalty if your child is away for five days or more.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please can you let us know as soon as possible on the first day by telephoning the office on 01977 723495 (please select Option 1). Thank you.
