Primary School Cook-Off Challenge

This term, pupils across our primary schools put their culinary skills to the test in a fun, hands-on cooking competition with three competitive rounds. Round 1: Design a £10 menu Round 1 kicked off with a challenge to design a menu that could be made with a budget of £10. Pupils had to consider how their menu could be cost-effective yet flavoursome. Round 2: Ordering Food Next, pupils met with office managers to place their food orders. Stronger as One: 80+ staff members take part in Pontefract 10K

This weekend, more than 80 of our staff members took part in the Pontefract 10K, all in support of Oliver’s Army, a cause close to the hearts of our school community. Oliver, the son of one of our teachers, is currently facing a second battle with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. Positive feedback for Orchard Head in latest Ofsted report

We are proud to share the outcomes of the latest Ofsted inspection for Orchard Head Junior, Infant and Nursery School, which took place in March 2025. The ungraded (section 8) inspection suggests “that the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since the previous inspection” when it was rated ‘Good’ overall. The report is a wonderful endorsement of the progress that has been made and the school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection. At the end of March, Pontefract Academies Trust had the pleasure of hosting the very first PAT Primary Maths Championship, bringing pupils together from across our seven primary schools for a day of fierce competition. Plans revealed for Carleton High School’s rebuild under the government’s flagship School Rebuilding Programme

Carleton High School, part of Pontefract Academies Trust, has today, Thursday 22nd December revealed the plans for the replacement of its school’s multiple teaching blocks with an entirely new 3-story building, securing the future of the school and high educational standards for all of its pupils for decades to come. Chosen by 13 pupils from across six primary schools, Cartner’s No.5 new bar on Shoemarket in the town has scooped first place.
